An incredible planning map, the only one that covers this entire area! Beautiful shaded relief topo, printed on waterproof and tear-resistant paper that shows the trails of the entire Southern Sierra Nevada mountains in Central California. An overview map that shows Sequoia National Park, Sequoia National Forest, Inyo National Forest, Kennedy Meadows, Kernville & the following wilderness areas: Golden Trout, John Muir, South Sierra, Sacatar Trail, Domeland, Chimney Peak, Owens Peak, Kiavah, Bright Star, Inyo Mountains, Coso Range, and El Paso Mountains wilderness areas. Map folds down to nice pocket-size and is extremely durable. Includes trail mileages and elevation points and is an excellent companion for anyone looking to discover more of this amazing and little used area.

    I was looking for maps with clearly marked borders for National Parks, Wilderness areas etc. These are perfect for that. Everything else, trails, roads etc are also marked very clearly.

    These are amazing maps. Very detailed and easy to read. I like them much better than National Geographic maps which have started using red lines for hiker/horse trails making them very difficult to see. Also, the scale of these are better for me as I want to see a larger area in one map, don’t need overkill detail because I generally am not going cross country, I stick to trails, and I am not wanting to carry numerous maps. I highly recommend these. Shipping was fast. Customer service was what it used to be, personalized and satisfying.

    Form factor is excellent! I originally found the Southern Sierra Trail Map at a gas station, so I had to order the rest of them online. I hope there are plans for desert maps as well, and of course, maps for Northern California would be nice too.

    Excellent, well-detailed maps. I bought three. I plan to do some fishing for Golden Trout in California (catch & release), and I needed a map to point me in the right direction. I actually “framed” one of these Calico maps and hung it in my man cave. Everyone always looks at the map with great interest.

    This was the third map I purchased from Calico, unfortunately all there are up to now. Whether they provide up-to-date detail like that of the Lagunas, or a fairly complete overview of a larger area like the most recent one of the Southern Sierra – I find them extremely helpful in planning our next hikes and/or weekend trips. And the water- and tear-resistant material promises a long lifetime even when heavily used; I hope to see many more new products in the near future!

    Calico maps are the best. I have every map in software and can layer them etc. but nothing beats these maps. Plus you have to have a back up right? Every time I get one of these maps, and I own them all, I discover new things even after studying everything else first. Just so readable. Do not hesitate.

    What a great map! This is possibly the only topo map of this region that’s available for purchase, and it’s such a rich area that is hard to find information on otherwise. I just went on a camping trip to the area and this map made it possible. My only complaint is that some of the color choices are confusing (wilderness boundaries are marked in blue, which can easily be mistaken for rivers), and some minor forest service roads are not represented. All around a great resource and a great map though!

    Top notch planning map. Provides excellent validation with a map that has more granular details like a Harrison wilderness map. I understand the methodology behind omitting trail names for a majority of routes; a part of me, regardless, would have liked to see some but as I have multiple maps, this is definitely not a deal breaker.

    Map arrived in record time. Quality (so far) appears durable, tho only time will tell if that assumption stays valid. I spent all of the weekend just combing through the map and learning so much more about the area than I thought possible. I would definitely recommend this map to anyone seeking a more bird’s eye perspective on the giant mass of territory that is the southern Sierra. Thank you for this resource!

    Great map! Easy to read. I really like the color coding. I used this map to plan a hiking trip in the Domelands Wilderness via Cherry Hill Rd. This is hands down the best map out there…. Topo lines, clear trailheads with mileage. So glad my friend told me about calico maps.
